One of our older projects completed by Lingard Ltd on the main building at Hull Royal Infirmary.
The 15-storey structure was built between 1963 and 1965 to care for patients around Humberside. With a roof height of 57 metres the concrete framed building has been subjected to severe weather exposure exacerbated by airborne salts being carried across from the nearby River Humber Estuary. The reinforced concrete frame is overclad in mosaic tiles bedded onto sand/cement render and due to its exposure is now suffering from extensive cracking and spalling.
We are working directly for the NHS to reinstate the defective concrete and apply protective finishes prior to the building being rain screen overclad to improve the buildings appearance and improve its thermal efficiency. Access for our workmen on one of the city’s largest structures is being provided by mast climber working platforms as can be seen on the photo.
This is a demanding concrete repair project which forms part of our ever increasing work portfolio.
The 13 floor high Hull Royal Infirmary consists of Wards, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Laboratories and a Pharmacy. The A&E department sees around 120,000 people each year with the Trust meeting the 4-hour target every year since it was introduced.
Donations are always a big part of any hospitals lifeline for both medical research and staff development. Donations can be made via postal cheques or postal orders as well as cash donations to the General Office.
